Chrome extension for students
Block distractions
while you study.
focusd blocks the sites that eat your evening, checks in on you at random, and nudges harder if you drift. Free, and it stays on your computer.
For Chrome on a laptop or desktop.
What it does during a session
Blocks the usual suspects
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, X and more send you to a calm Back to work page while a session runs. Edit the list any time.
Checks in at random
Every 8 to 20 minutes, when you least expect it, focusd asks if you are still with it.
Five second focus tests
Type one line on what you are doing, tap a dot, or pick the block you are on. A mix, so it never goes on autopilot.
Pesters you back
Ignore a check-in and it escalates: a notification, then a chime, then a full screen Back to work. Answer and it all clears.
At the end you get a short summary: minutes focused, check-ins answered and missed, and your own one-line log.
AI plan for the day
What's on today?
One task per line. You get ordered focus blocks with breaks. Send them to the extension and its check-ins ask which block you are on.
Your data stays on your device
- The extension keeps your sessions, check-in answers and log in your browser. It sends nothing to focusd or anyone else, and has no analytics.
- It only touches the sites on your block list, and only to send them to the Back to work page during a session.
- The day planner sends the tasks you type to our AI provider to build the plan. Plans are not saved on our side, and you do not need an account.
- Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
focusd is free. No account, no upgrade.
